How did I become a contact lens user?

How did I become a contact lens user?

Or a pair of glasses has never been a sparkle and a dismal failure. My case started quite early and classically.

Or a pair of glasses has never been a sparkle and a dismal failure

My case started rather classically: in the lower grades of elementary school, they noticed during a medical examination (which I already knew, but I thought I'd keep it to myself...) that I needed glasses. And with that, they pronounced a death sentence for me, because at 9-10 years old, I was convinced that as soon as glasses were put on my face, the ground would open up beneath me, or at least the floor of the classroom if I had to stand up to answer in front of the class.

But there was nothing to be done, the doctor prescribed glasses, and I enjoyed the pleasure of being able to choose the frame (salmon pink), the (not at all) matching purple glasses chain, and the even more purple case. I liked all of this very much back then, until I realized the next day that I had to go to school in this colorful miracle, no fairy tale!

Glasses contact lens

I started wearing glasses and although no one bullied me for it (to the credit of my classmates), I hated it diligently. I undoubtedly saw the board better with it, but it slipped down, my nose sweated under it, I constantly had to search for it at home, I even sat on it a few times, overall I can say that our relationship was not cloudless. My dear mother thought I would get used to it, but I definitely won't, I thought... and I was right.

We fought each other for a few years, the glasses and I (and my mother), then one day I got tired of it and never put them on again. Of course, there were consequences beyond parental scolding, because I couldn't see the board, or the TV from a distance, moreover, my eyesight got worse. The miserable state lasted until I was 18 years old, when one morning I woke up knowing that I would have contact lenses!

So I went to an ophthalmic appointment, where after an examination, they determined I was suitable for wearing contact lenses (thanks to Divine providence and the shape of my eyeballs). They determined the diopter, and I had to attend training sessions where they showed me all the tricks of inserting, removing, and caring for the lens.

Wearing contact lenses

In the first few weeks, inserting the lens in the morning was an additional item on the agenda, I got up half an hour earlier and it took about the fifteenth attempt to pray the little impostor into my eye, but then the world always opened up: I just looked around and read the smallest letters, whether I needed to or not. As a result, my knowledge expanded both about lens usage and about the contact information of the company manufacturing gas boilers.

This was more than 10 years ago now. Contact lenses are constantly evolving, becoming more and more comfortable, easier to handle, so they can be confidently chosen by those who don't have an extra 30 minutes in the morning for a lens conjuring session but still want the invaluable sense of freedom and comfort that a contact lens can provide!
