Watch your eyesight: eat eggs!

Eggs have a great effect on your eyes. Would you have thought?

The effect of eggs on the eyes

Easter is here, fasting is almost over. Surely at your table, there will be a bunch of typical delicacies: ham, bread, and of course eggs! The latter should be eaten not only because of the holiday or its taste, but also because it has a great effect on your eyes, on your vision. Would you have thought?

Eggs have been one of our basic sources of protein for ages. Its caloric value is not high, so it can be included in a diet, while it's also rich in minerals and vitamins besides protein. It contains a lot of calcium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, potassium, and sodium. It also contains beneficial omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for optimal functioning of the body.

But how does the egg protect the eyes?

Among the many vitamins it contains (such as A, C, D), it includes vitamin E, which is known as the eye vitamin. Similarly important for eye health is zinc, the deficiency of which can be associated, for example, with the development of cataracts, but the good news is that this important trace element is also found in eggs. Plus, an interesting fact is that the pigments responsible for the color of the egg yolk are the same as those pigments that are intended to protect the eyes from harmful rays.

So eat plenty of eggs and give your eyes a rest during the long weekend!

We wish you a Happy Easter!
